Stage 3 Burn Intitated

My last attempt at collage quilting was on the messy side. Kris recommended I try Pattern Ease with Seam-a-Seam-2 on this one. The Pattern Ease isn’t much different from the interfacing I used on the castles, but it takes marker with less bleeding. Trading fabric stiffener and glue for fusible web is definitely a step in the right direction. I did pick up some iron cleaner, just in case.

  • Find an SAS2 video in English
  • Scale up outline in Affinity
  • Print sizing test
  • Transfer design to Pattern Ease
  • Cut base to final size
  • Color map

I have officially seen too many sad pictures of octopus salad. I like the interplay of the orange and the pale blue, echoing the blues in the background lightyears down the wavelength. I still have some jellyroll blues that were too pale for Basketcase, should fit the bill nicely. And if you can see the orange shadow through them, even better. But no more than two layers of fabric + PE and SAS2. It’s already going to gum the needle, no point adding injury to irritation by breaking it. Going to have to work in small sections to keep the overlaps tight.

Should check the craft lab for something I can use to temp set the SAS2 before I fuse. I don’t have a soldering tip that’s big enough, but maybe a flat shading head on the pyrography pen. If not, might be worth ordering one so I can fuse a piece at a time and not hit everything in an iron-span. Should probably rewatch the SAS2 video one more time before I start prepping the palette.
