Originally I was going to cut the corners on point, but it burns too much fabric. Thought about mitering the corners, but wrestling ginormo patchwork through Jinx is not on my most-fun-ever list. Likewise trying to cut a full panel on grain – far more effort than it’s worth in the space I have available. Now she needs a good pressing, a thread clipping, and a lint roller rubdown. Queen-size is cumbersome.
Figured it was time to sketch out stage three for Tentacular, but now I’m having second thoughts. I like the plan, but might end up being too many layers. Maybe if it was just the collage, but it still needs to be appliqued over the drunkard’s path base, with four-way seams every six inches. That many layers is going to limit the collage to three at most or it’ll be too thick to get a needle through for quilting. Focus on color blocking; if there’s wiggle room in the end, add the suckers and maybe shade with a fabric marker. Probably best to start with a small-scale prototype.
