Lots and lots for us to do

He doesn’t have as many fissures as an actual Balrog, but the main musculature is blocked in, if messy. Stupid whip is always in the wrong place. I may have to replace it with something less frustrating, but I dunno if I have anything else in scale for this beastie. Maybe try to shape it with the heat gun.

Not sure why I keep trying to make the AP Speed Paints work for me. I don’t care for the hues, I hate the way they blend, and they just feel…off. Messy. Unevenly pigmented no matter how much they’re mixed. The formula has already been changed; I need to get over trying to “get my money’s worth” out of them, when I really want is to get them out of my way. Not like I’m going to bring in another translucent line in with them taking up space. Put them in the airbrush bucket and Move. On.

The color blocking isn’t great, but it’s sealed with varnish, so I can go back in and smooth things out with proper paints without the AP SP flaking off or clumping. It may be fine once the wing bones and membranes have whittled it down.

Enough for one weekend. A decent start, though another wash would not go amiss. May still need to thin the magma flow around the wings some more once the bones are done. Come up with a plan for his kit. Hooves and horns. And do I want to do an actual OSL effect, or just roll with the lava veins.
