Found my teeny-tiny arachnids during the paint org, but not really feeling the spider dudes. I still like the overall color scheme, but it is rather my go-to. Between the Brood and Tentacular, I need a hue offset. Something low-stress, so no Warhammer – needs to run fast and dirty to a tabletop standard and move on to something else. The pile isn’t quite shameful yet, but there’s a lot of grey to slay in this lab.
Like this cloven-hoofed cutie; he might look good as the Balrog. I’ve never tried the lava effect on flesh before. Also a great excuse to bust out the airbrush. Thinking I’ll run him dullahan style. The sculptor was gracious enough to leave some room between the wings and the shoulders, so access isn’t an issue if I glue and gap fill first, and should make the lighting easier to judge. Maybe a quick prime coat first; make sure the mold lines aren’t epic.
Apparently I phoned in the last Eclipse cleaning. Needle was stuck fast enough to require a hot water immersion; hopefully I didn’t cook my seals. I should probably count myself lucky to have escaped without self-inflicted burns and call it a day. Instead I’ll put my hot AF kettle next to the live outlets and the charging station. What could possibly go wrong? Whatever. Broken down, scrubbed, oiled, trigger smoothed, and all is right with the world once more.
I don’t remember my primer being this glossy, but could also be the medium. This resin feels porous and its extremely flexible. The wings are thick enough to not be an issue, but the whip is going to drive me guano. Gonna need to think on that once I get some lighting references.
Started with somewhat diffused soft white from front and above. If he’s his own OSL object (that sounds like the start of a time paradox joke), the light map would be inverted to reflect lava in the creases and darker crust furthest from the molten core. Since everything is finally setup, the last one is a turquoise drop with orange undertones, cause why not. It might be my favorite. Probably because its blue and orange. A-freakin-gain.
Uncle Atom keeping it real on tabletop standard.
