Basketcase is sized for a twin. Considering expanding to queen, but an additional row and column would double the fabric count for the blues. With the midtones sorted out to emphasize the basketweave contrast there are 25 light blue and 22 dark blue. Pulled some larger scale patterns but the stash is low on batiks. I should work on that.

White and dark blues cut. The seventy warp pieces went faster than expected; with any luck the weft will follow suit. Shouldn’t be much fabric leftover on this one. At three 12.5″ pieces per WOF, I’d need another set of the same jelly rolls, only using half(ish). If I change up the order, I’ll have to hold layout until they’re received and processed them to avoid an obvious division. Or maybe lean into it with a midtone striped border and binding – use up more of the rolls.

And the beat goes on.

The widget was too tall for the tail – 4’1″ already and all leg. Looks like I’ll get to test my improvements sooner than I thought. Muslin already received for the backs of the scales; teal jelly rolls ordered. The scales will be thinner, but they’ll cut a world faster. Not the most cost effective solution, but worth the loss of fabric control to reduce rotary time. Squaring up frayed footage from the cut counter is time consuming.
