Based with AP SPs and caked in matte varnish to keep them from flaking off. Several hours fighting with dry brushes and washes. There is no sanctuary.
Definitely reinforcing the issues with the branch shapes, but has brought up another idea. Between the “I just ate a rat” lumps and the forked ends, could be an interesting beast for the table. Maybe a Gorgon Grove. I should do some sketching. Tbf, I was expecting the TA to help blend the ends, but life is change.
The hollow was looking fairly rough. Trimmed and sanded the edges but exposed some of the wire armature, which was patched with plastic putty. Retextured and repainted to blend. Sanded down a few other rough places that were bugging me, but the rest will have to be hidden with flock. Once you see the snakes, you really can’t unring that bell.
Hold the Foam glue seems to be doing the trick so far. Trying to be patient and give it the full hour to cure before I flip her over and start on the undercarriage. I really should have done the bottom first, but I wanted to see how the clump foliage looked before I did the whole tree.
It’s going to need at least one more base layer of clump and then top coats of fine loose in successively lighter layers. Maybe a sprinkling of dark evergreen for depth. Provided the overpriced tacky PVA does, in fact, hold.
