Some days I am a total moron. I was so close to putting the crows away. So. freaking. close. But I managed to knock another one over after the varnish and snapped off his sword. CA alone wasn’t holding well, so I figured I’d do a quick pin and be done with it. Twenty minutes later and nothing was sticking. I tried a bigger bore, a finer glue, nada. I decided to give it one more shot, but only managed to break half of the pommel off.
Not that it really mattered by that (lack of) point – the last run through I grabbed glue blind and didn’t realize until the over drill that the paint was coming off the sword. And that I overdrilled because I didn’t grab CA, I grabbed Unbonder, which was melting the resin. Thankfully it was just the sword and not the figure, but now I need to paint a sword and bash him back together.
8 of 9 corvids in the drawer; I swear this shit is never going to be off my desk.
I do think I’m going to stick with the gold bottle thinset CA. The faster sets have been a nightmare to control, and while they may bond faster, it doesn’t feel like they bond as well. Unless it’s to me. On the bright side, the bash box turned up a good weapons match. I probably should have painted it before I trimmed the pin to dry fit, but whatcha gonna do.
Since I was dragging the primer out anyway, I decided to put the teeny-tiny’s on the table. I don’t plan on spending much time on them, but they are awfully cute.
Landis told Movies.com, “Probably the funniest moment for me when shooting was when I had the Three Amigos on horseback in the desert and I was shooting while they were wearing those ridiculous outfits and after having been shooting for three weeks, Chevy objected to a line of dialogue and he said, ‘I don’t think I should say this.’ And, remember, Chevy plays a character named Dusty Bottoms. So I said, ‘Well, why not?’ He said, ‘Because my character would have to be a moron to say this.’ All I could think was, What movie has Chevy been making? So I said, ‘OK, I’ll give it to Marty because it’s a laugh.’ Then Chevy said, ‘I’ll say it!’ It’s one of my favorite moments with an actor.”
