That was…not what I expected. I like the basic idea of it, but I think I was expecting more structure and less random prompt dispenser. Apparently I have an easier time stringing together a narrative for criminal enterprises than cozy ones. Given that what I really want is the Book of Shadows, I think I’ll skip the foraging and stick with potion generation. Bring on the doodling and sketchy supplemental internet research.
I’m feeling fairly ok about my first attempt but it feels like it’s missing a cheesy couplet. I may need to revisit later as a two page spread. With better shading on an elongated shroom and a better view of the wrinkled grey matter-esque gills. Maybe a close up of the spores themselves. And a tip to deploy the snail upside to encourage deposit of organic adhesive (rather than lubricant). Should probably make the doodles smaller overall. Also the paper. GN was super helpful for trying out ideas, but now that I have a start on the design, next iteration should be fully Procreate with the option to copy/paste from GN. I should probably find some fonts I like too. An acid green fade on the shroom. So yeah, I guess I’m playing this game.
