Another day, another reason to avoid Jellyrise; time for Gretchen to earn her keep.
I had expanded the cactus to add details, dropped it down to size and replicated a portion in the corner to reflect the groupings in the middle ground.
I added the fog as a uniform clipping mask on the back and middle grounds. The desaturation helps both layers recede but allows the sky to remain saturated enough to contrast the jellyglow. I need to soften that as well.
It feels unbalanced. The second cactus is a good start, but maybe it needs to swap with the motorcycle. Still debating a person on the rock, but for now its the center jellyfish that keeps drawing my eye. It feels too close. If I push it back, then I definitely need to deal with the unbalanced corner.
I am going to finish this piece, but I am wondering if maybe I should try following the lessons a closer. I’m not crazy about the idea of making clones, but it is tough to see the intended effect of the tool if you’re not following the lesson. Learn the rules beofre you break them, as it were. Then again, how tough is it use a blur function. Something to consider while I check out BG’s Art That Sells.
