I finally threw down with Tré, but my heart wasn’t in it. I like the fuchsia end of the spectrum, but pink can feel like a step too far – like the denture drill bit holders. In green or blue, I think I’d buy one, but red is a little too close to reality to be fun. More of a continual reminder of what will happen if I don’t keep up with my dental cleanings. Not something I care to dwell on.
I tried to stop agonizing and work more quickly on this one, dark-to-light. I grabbed the wrong color for the teeth and used the colorless blender to lift highlights. Probably not something I will bank on in the future, but it worked passably well. I also need to work on popping marker caps without flinging alcohol ink everywhere.
Kinda surprised by my own preferences with regard to how much blending and where. Going to have to revisit and see how things hold up. Could have used more of a plan, but not terrible for an hour’s effort. In any event, I’m ready for something other than markers for a while. For now, I think I need to let things settle so I can come back with a fresh outlook.
The 3D itch has started to spread. I’m thinking it’s time to build the balloon portion of the Drunken Balloon and see how things go from there. I need a size reading for scalability and feasibility. And to stop putting things off until I’m “ready”. Perhaps a steampunk version.
When I do get back to markers, I want to try Jazza’s highlighting techniques.
