After the next layer of moss was settled on the shingles, I decided to use it to solve my roof gap issue. I’m going to throw one more layer of dark moss over the top before I think about general weathering.
Added the ladder and gave the pier some sun bleaching, medium gray thru a touch of barely warm white. I tried not to go overboard with the teeny-tiny sea life, but the shells and starfish are way too cute. Cleared a path from the front door to the pier.
I made the rock with leftover air-dry clay a few projects back. I can’t remember what I was doing, but I knew I’d find a use for it eventually, to say nothing of meeting the inevitable thumbprint quota for the piece. Dry-brushed the rock to match the shoreline. I like the extension of that warmth into the water, and the extension of the eyeline to the pier. Still debating a couple of buoys at the end of the pier, next to ladder, for a final pop of color.
The last open section of water is a little larger than the rock side, which should help to balance the boat. Considered skipping it, as the open space would be easier to model the water in, but I’m always going to have to work around something. No matter how well the surf turned out, the blank expanse would irritate me in the end. And by then it would be too late to do anything about it.
Modified the boat design for ease of install and laziness of build. A flat bottom doesn’t need to be secured while the water cures and only needs two bends in the build.
