Damn I love my hot wire cutter. In addition to being generally awesome, I love that it’s not a saw and I can cut in any direction I please. Next time I need to dig out the angle guide, but for today it was enough.
The original design was a snooze-fest, so I changed the orientation and added the porch overhang. Built the beams up under the overhang and jigsawed the shingles. Lesson learned on Castle Smash-It; far easier to cover the top attached bit on a flat surface. Capped the roof and ran thru the hot wire table again to flush up the ends, 1 mm at a time. I really do love the process. Once things were more-or-less even, edged with more planks to fit the wonky angles.
The pieces are still separate for painting, but they still line up for final assembly. Should also make it easer to cut in the windows and the chimney pipe if I’m not fumbling around the roof as well. I pulled the smallest diameter of twigs I could find for the porch supports, but going to need the teeny-tiny cut off saw to finish prepping them. Jury is also still out on the pier. I wonder how hard it would be to make a rocking chair out of the twigs…
