The backlash scattershot continues – best I’ve managed is to contain it to graphite and ink for now. May have to bust out the airbrush booth this weekend, now that the weather has turned. Also getting back to learning anatomy and Procreate; lots of reading. Still in the gesture phase for both, but some nice reinforcement of process fundamentals running them in tandem.
Down to the last couple dozen exercises in my ink workbook, combining texture, contour, and shading. The scribbled eyeball was the sketch I was most intimidated by when I opened the workbook initially, but it’s not terrible. Finally feel like I’m making progress with the fudegokochi brush pens. I love my Microns, but not as a crutch for lousy pressure control. That being said, I need to stop using them as an excuse to overwork the pieces.
Feeling the other way on the Procreate streamline function – using it makes me feel more confident, which increases line stability, thereby reducing the need for streamline. That is a self-fulfilling prophecy I can mambo with. Thinking I might try a paper-feel screen protector as well; hard to judge how much you rely on feedback from the medium until it’s gone.
Remember this: it isn’t what you look at that matters, it is what you see.
