Got my new desk lamp as well; it’s so much better than my makeshift lighting. No more shadows in funky places or wrestling with the clip on ring magnifier. No more table bounce, no more gaps around the drop plate for the sewing machine. Yeah, so maybe the new setup was a little overdue.
Since I generally sit on the right side of the desk, closer to the side table and my palette, the left side shelf ended up being more hindrance than anything. After I walked into the corner for the third time I put it in the closet. I swapped in the unused cart shelf, and it’s actually kind of perfect now. It fits the rail system perfectly with no overlap, leaving the unused support as the ideal handle to pivot the desk and tuck it out of the way when it’s not in use. The shelf itself is still useful as I can look through the desk to whatever reference I’m using. If I want to use my iPad, I have a no slip mount the I can use to keep it mostly flat on top of the glass, provided the grade isn’t too steep. And if it is, then there’s plenty of room for the mount on the shelf instead.
Been feeling ink over acrylic lately. As much as I love it, painting can be something of a pain in the ass to get rolling. Ink is far easier to fit into fifteen minute increments. Less than a week till the first prompt.
