Probably time to think about a project with an actual plan attached. Something with LEDs. Something I absolutely do not have shelf space for. CJ’s group is still like a month from done with the Ziggurat. I have time to do something a little more dieselpunk. I should go through the large form pieces in the trash box and see if I can’t come up with a base structure and go from there.
Finally hit the last two terrain pieces with an oil wash. Still a hot mess, but I can’t seem to care. There’s too much shit that still needs to be done. Hopefully I can cover the chipping joint compound with flocking.
I was planning on flocking the planter top with dirt before gluing the foliage in place, but I liked the way the dry brushing turned out, so I decided to roll with it. The plants were a little crazy bright, so I dry-brushed them with an olive green to tone them down at least a little. Next time I’ll figure that out prior to cutting them apart. Shut it Gretchen, it could happen.
In the interest of staying the fuck out of the aforementioned Valley of Diminishing Returns, I put a one day cap on closing out the first planter. I went with a marquise for the base because I felt like it; corrugated metal fencing, recessed granny square drain pieces, and quilting half-hexie floor tiles. The crates are balsa bases with popsicle stick plates, and a few random findings to round things out.
Feeling like Dr Kinbott looking for shelf space; Gretchen’s not great at sharing.
