After dry fitting the lava buds, I don’t think stanchions or columns are necessary. I need to be careful not to screw up the paint, but otherwise, hot glue ought to do it. To that end, I hit the bottom of the buds with crackle paste; hopefully they’re ready for install tomorrow.
Otherwise, just an oil wash tonight – that was messy and stinky enough for one day. I think I overcorrected and went too dark this time, but that works in this case, so I didn’t bother testing first. Its a mix of Burnt Umber, Burnt Sienna, and Payne’s Grey, and now that I’ve found spray bottles that can handle linseed oil, I could probably run the grey separately next time around and mix them on the terrain. It’s still not totally dry, but oil does bring the friggin depth. damn.
I still need to sculpt and bake the final bud for the top, but that’s about it. Good thing too, I dragged my feet so long, it’s only 3 sessions from the table. And I still need to make scatter to go with it. And paint warbands. Woe is me. Life is rough. etc. etc. Maybe I shouldn’t have picked up the Tarantulos Brood too. Minion says that’s crazy talk.
