I gave myself one more day to finish painting the guards, and then I’m moving on. Given my tendency to obsess, best to put a hard cap on that shit. No point spending more time painting them than they will spend on the table.
The brimstone horrors were driving me a wee bit guano. Between the minimal mounting points and the pre-crackled bases, lots of irritating separation. Not an awesome feature in a magnetic guard that’s going to be relocated.
Eventually I popped them all, patched the paint on the bases, and got at least one pin in each of the horrors when I reinstalled them. I need to do some cleanup on the bases, but no more bristles on the minis. If I don’t nip it in the bud, I’ll still be blending in February.
…a common misconception is believing it is necessary to represent all the values we observe in a subject. It isn’t necessary, neither is it possible, to attempt to represent the infinite range of values we see. In fact, you need no more than six values to create a realistic depiction. The more you practice simplifying things in this way the less likely you will feel overwhelmed by the abundance of information reality throws at you. Remember that drawing is just a magic trick, an illusion presented on paper.
