First Attempt at Oil Wash

The door called for in the plans adds another 4″ to the front of this bloated whale, so I replaced it with a closed door instead. Sealing this beast took for. freaking. ever.

I initially dry brushed greys over the black base, but it was incredibly boring, so I added another trio of tones to the bricks. I figured it was as good a time as any to indulge my CDO (like OCD, but in alphabetical order, as it should be), and matched all the interior bricks to the exterior.

My first attempt at an oil wash was messy AF and not strong enough. It took eons to dry and did not inspire great confidence. The tint and dry-brushing did help to unify things, but the whole things could use another round with a darker wash. And weathering. Among several dozen other things. Starting with a spray bottle that can handle linseed oil.

Unfortunately, at this point I’m so tired of it, I’m having a hard time giving a damn about much. I’m not sure why I’m finishing it aside from being a contrary completionist.
