Masking worked well, but it took for-freaking-ever, to say nothing of how fun it was to hold them by all the lovely spikes. Metallics and wet palettes don’t tango so well.
In the end, I elected to try and up the contrast by basing the metal areas with a matte copper instead of a dark brown. Then I got lazy with the dry brushing and used metallic copper over everything but the skulls. It gives it an interesting sheen, and frankly, its Warcry terrain. It’s good enough.
