Finally painted the grots to round out my squig herd. The robes are a little more…comic book than I originally intended, but I’m rather partial to them. I still have sneaky snufflers and manglers in the box, after which I may have to build a hillside for my squigalanche.

I figured I would celebrate my first painted unit by building a fountain ruin. I had forgotten how long Mod Podge takes to dry, so while I was waiting I dug out Felix & Oscar, took some reference pictures, and uploaded them to Procreate. My doodles are hardly intricate or impressive, but the app is pretty user friendly and comprehensive for $10. I fiddled around enough to test some colors and my knockoff pencil. I definitely prefer drawing on the iPad to my desktop rig; I never did get the hang of that hand-eye.

Today’s drawing lesson was hollow cubes, with a treasure chest bonus challenge. I was hunting for a reference photo to try something a little more complicated, when I found a picture of three chests, which made me think of 3-card monte, which led to what will probably be my next project, since I think I can do it completely from wooden sticks and foam core. I found 8mm hinges on Amazon, so the first issue is resolved.

TIL that Dominica Monaghan and Billy Boyd have a podcast called The Friendship Onion.
