I put a few hours in this morning getting started on my hero pieces. Nothing strenuous, just working on my consistency. The white t-shirts haven’t been too bad, but the Nurse Ratched throwback was rather wretched. (Also, when is the last time you saw an on-shift nurse in anything other than scrubs?) I’m starting to understand the frustrations with working in white. I’m tempted to mix in a dash of ash to see if I can’t smooth it out. In either case, I could use a break from hunching over, and I’ll be more objective if I give my eyes a break before assessing them.
I like the blue and primer on the letterman jacket. It’s not an exact match on the box art, but it’s close enough and grey should be easier to work with than more white. I keep meaning to write down the formulas for new colors as I mix them, but I never do. So far I haven’t had any issues recreating them, so I guess that’s a plus. I should pull out the color mixing bible as well – could help me visual highlight colors and mixes.
I haven’t decided if I’m going to wash them yet. Its probably not a terrible idea, but washes never seem to work all that well for me. I dunno if its the products or the application, though my money is on the latter. I guess it can’t hurt – worst case I cover the majority reestablishing the midtones… Only one way to find out.
Friggin Texas.
There are strange things sticking out of the screen on the left side, where Velcro attaches to the door frame. I look closer. Six scorpions, tails curled out.
SIX.
One right above the other along the door frame.
They looked dead, probably from poison the exterminator sprayed. Somehow they crawled up and got stuck in Velcro. So I went and got a fly swatter, just in case. And then Gordon proceeded to pull dead scorpions out with tongs and toss them into the water bucket. There are still some chunks of scorpions stuck to the screen that we can’t get out.
