Finally finished Arthur’s Knights. The work stress is still getting to me, but paint always helps. I tried to follow the included game art, with a few minor tweaks. Having the grey knight’s armor entirely silver was entirely boring, I had to break it up a little. I also didn’t do the edging on the tunics of the yellow and purple knights, partially because I did it on the green knight and it really highlighted how bad the sculpt is. They’re hardly perfect but they’re not terrible and they’re done. Time to move on.
I tested out the Army Painter Matte Varnish, and so far I loves it. I wish I had tried it sooner. Part of my problem with the purple knight was the obscene shininess the purple wash left in the creases of the cloak. I ended up using glaze medium and payne’s grey ink instead. It worked pretty well and I was able to build it up some; I may use it instead of wash in the future. Vince V. recommended it in a video as his universal shadow color, so I figured I’d give it a shot. Vince tends to mix the ink with his paints, but this time I decided to try is as a glaze. Between this one and the yellow, I like working with the inks, but I can see where they could get out of hand. They are fucking strong.
Then her face went all psycho. The old bitch backhanded me. I don’t actually remember being hit. I just remember rolling down the stairs. I guess she knocked me off the landing. She is fucking strong.

I think I want another video – maybe some Duncan Rhodes or Sam Lenz, I could use some optimism right now. Or I could review dry-brushing with makeup brushes before I take a crack at my dryads. I still have the hero figures from Last Night on Earth, but I don’t think I can handle more frustrating board game sculpts right now. Dry-brushing with a fluffy brush sounds like more fun.
I also have more dice adventurers, tiny goblins, and an ice giant in the box. She’s pretty great looking, and she was a great lesson in how push to fit ends can go horribly wrong; it took twenty minutes with the hobby knife and files to get her arms to fit. Building sounds like fun too but I feel like I have enough enough unslayed gray hanging out at the moment, no need to go unboxing more.
