The challenge of checkers

Four or five passes later, I think they are about as good as they’re going to get. I may go back and touch up anything I notice in the photos, but they’re fairly neat otherwise, or as neat as I appear to be capable of right now. Some of the angles are nearly impossible to get to and sometimes the crook of the elbow behind the shield just isn’t worth it. Nor, I think, can I continue to bend the spear before something irreparable happens. I’m going to pass on the controlled washing and just hit all 7 pieces with an all over coat of Dark Tone.

I hit the bases with colored washed, except yellow, which got Amarillo ink instead of soft tone. The washes are looking pretty faint, so I may mix some of the paint with contrast medium and hit them again. And invest in more inks.
