It’s beginning to look more like tree folk

I tried following the color list in the Battletome, but have concluded it’s a bunch of bullshit. They show the dark bark as dark brown, nearly black, but the color list is nothing but varying shades of green and some brown wash. I tried the light color formula as well, but I wasn’t crazy about how it turned out. I think I’m going to leave the dark green for the older bark and additional brown washes on the new to warm things up a little. Maybe another yellow glaze to highlight the light bark. I’m not crazy about the orange foliage either – maybe some icy pink or periwinkle flowers with brighter green leaves to go with the azure sigils. Less worrying, more painting. But I do need to stay in the learning zone – if I stray into slapping paint around with no plan at all, nothing will ever develop. For now I need to concentrate on warming up the light bark and easing the transitions.

Sneaky Snufflers ordered – muahahahaha!

Not feeling quite as motivated about painting as I was a few months ago, but signed lease to 700 miles and fully unpacked in 8 weeks is no joke. I think I’m going to need some down time.
