I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer. I was feeling OK about the basing, and pretty decent about some of the lining and the wash, but after dry brushing, the eye stalks looked…cloudy. Its not the first time I felt that way after dry brushing, but I chalked it up to lack of familiarity and maybe the wrong technique for what I was trying to achieve. I didn’t want to make things worse last night, so I quit before I did something irrevocable.
I brought the model to my work rig this morning, so I could consider possible next steps, but the cloudiness didn’t seem as pronounced there, or in the back garden, which I attributed to weaker light and overcast skies. I revisited the desk several times throughout the day to reassess, and resigned myself to re-basing the stalks to try glazing and feathering instead. After several more frustrating attempts, taking it darker and darker, I decided to take a picture and request a second opinion.
Which is when I realized the cloudiness had a green tint, like the only lamp it was visible under. When I moved to the blue lamp, the reflection blended, and no more cloudiness.
The beholder is done because I can’t look at it anymore.
